About Vega

Around Vega.

Worth a stop

The Oldham County Courthouse square has been the hub of Vega since 1915, hosting community events like the Summer Market and Christmas on the Square. The town also has the Milburn-Price Culture Museum and the 1944 Vega Motel, a Route 66 tourist court.

A little history

Vega, Spanish for meadow, was first settled in 1899 by N. J. Whitfield and platted in 1903 along the new railroad. In a 1915 special election, the town won a five-year fight to move the county seat here from the old cowtown of Tascosa.

Mark the calendar

The Oldham County Roundup is a multi-day end-of-summer celebration with a parade, free barbecue, street dance, live music, and team roping with working cowboys from area ranches.
